The Volkswagen Tiguan has seen a refresh for 2022 with new trim lines and minor cosmetic changes including a slightly improved front end, a slider for climate controls and a new steering wheel. The Tiguan Allspace maintains its 215 mm length advantage over the standard car which is just enough room to squeeze 2 extra seats in the boot making this Tiguan a seven seater or with the two rear seats folded flat an excellent 5 seater with a 700 lire boot. It is fair to say that the two rear seats are a squeeze, really only of any use to the under 12’s for travelling in comfort. The Tiguan Allspace, as you would expect from a 7 seater, is substance over style, it is a grown up vehicle in every regard, comfortable and large, safe and sturdy, large doors that close with a reassuring thud
While there are three trim lines, Life, Elegance and R-Line, only the Life trim makes its way onto the Scheme, fortunately Volkswagen have been generous with the standard equipment, 18 inch alloy wheels, Digital Cockpit Pro – 10.25 inch high resolution dash display in place of standard dials, 8 inch touchscreen with built in Satellite navigation, privacy glass, front and rear parking sensors, wireless phone charging, high beam assist and 3 zone climate control. Should you wish to improve the equipment levels options are avaialbe including the winter pack at £430 which includes heated front seats, steering wheel and warm water jets for the windscreen, the panoramic glass roof is £995, keyless entry and electric tailgate £705 and a reversing camera is £390.
The sole engine choices it the 1.5 litre petrol, it has 148 brake horse power and the braked tow weight is an impressive 1800kg, dispite the size and weight of the Allspace the the 0-62 time is an impressive 9.5 seconds and the top speed is 124 miles per hour. Economy does let the car down, the claimed figure is 41.6 miles per gallon as six speed manual or 39.2 mpg as a 7 speed DSG automatic. The reality is a little different and one would expect to see low 30’s for town driving and up to 38 mpg at motorway speeds. and average out around 33-35 mpg for the manual and automatic cars. Only two cars are available on the Scheme:
