The new Renault Grand Scenic is deceptively large, drives very well and we think it looks great, it is full of nice touches too and the level of standard equipment, as you would expect from Renault, is excellent. It is also a true seven seater, it has three proper seats in the middle row, meaning you can put three car seats in place to carry children that require childseats. The rear twin seats are great for the children on a journey or for adults for a short trip. Be warned only the rear two seats fold flat, the middle row seats fold down only, they can be removed totally – but lets be honest who would do that.
The Grand Scenic, in Dynamique Nav trim, has an electronic speedo, integrated Sat nav with remote control (very nice), tinted rear glass, Alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, rear sun-blinds, front fog lights, leather steering wheel, cruise control, driver and passenger height adjustable seats, front lateral and curtain air bags and key-less entry and ignition, the doors open once you pull the door handles and the engine starts at the touch of a button, no more scrambling for the keys, only to lock the car that is.
There is only one engine to mobility customers, a 1.5 litre diesel with 110 brake horse power, it is not fast but it’s more than capable, it is frugal however and can offer 68.9 mpg. With a fuel tank capacity of 60 litres this gives a potential 811 miles to an entire tank of fuel. Top speed of 112 Miles per hour and a 0-62 time of 12.5 seconds but don’t let this put you off as this engine is very drivable and produces good levels of torque. It may be worth having a look at the Volkswagen Touran or the Ford S-Max for a larger engined car if you regularly fill all the seats.
