The Nissan Qashqai+2 is a seven seat version of the Nissan Qashqai though the name does not do it justice as it is so much more than two extra seats shoved in the boot. The +2 has an extended wheelbase of 13.5cm, the overall length has increased by 21cm over the five-seat version and to ensure there’s ample headroom in the third set of seats the roof-line has been lengthened and re-profiled adding 38mm to the overall height. Despite these changes the rearmost seats are only of use to children or small adults for short journeys, the middle row of seats fold individually in a 40, 20, 40 percentage split, the center seat is very slim indeed, you can seat three across the middle row but not if children require booster or fixed seats.
The extra height and length of the Qashqai+2 make it better than the standard car in our opinion, it drives very well and is delightfully equipped in each of the four trim levels, Visia, Acenta, 360 and Tekna. The Acenta is our pick, bluetooth CD player, cruise control, panoramic glass roof, electric heated mirrors, rear parking assist, rear privacy glass, front and rear electric windows, dual zone climate control, automatic lighting, rain sensitive wipers, 17″ alloy wheels and drivers lumbar support. If you want 18″ alloys a sat nav and an all round reversing camera then move up to the 360 model.
The Qashqai+2 is 100 kg heavier than the standard car meaning that the extra pulling power of the diesel engine is more suited, even the diminutive 1.5 litre diesel unit copes well with general driving, 0-62 miles per hour in 13.2 seconds and a top speed of 108 miles per hour, economy is excellent for such a big car at 53.3 miles per gallon. We look forward to the new 1.6 litre diesel engine becoming available to mobility customers at it offers an increase in power and economy.
The Qashqai+2 is an excellent occasional seven seater, well built and good to drive with excellent standard levels of equipment but a bit more power and three full sized seats in the middle row would make it even better.
There are no more Qashqai+2’s being built, once they are gone they are gone and at these prices it won’t take long so you need to move fast if this is the car for you.
