New Motability prices
The Site is now fully up to date with all the new prices. There are more cars on the Scheme with built in Sat-Nav systems included at no extra cost, some without an advance payment such as the Renault Clio and Ford Focus and for £199AP the Suzuki S-Cross. A splatttering of new cars are waiting to be reviewed, the Citroen C1, Ford Grand Tourneo, Toyota Rav 4, MG3, VW Polo and Kia Soul.
Each Quarter there are winners and losers and the top end cars are again eroded from the list this quarter.
We are here to help in any way, feel free to email or post your questions as a comment at the end of a page.

BREAKING NEWS
MG3 is the cheapest car on the scheme, for £46.50 (you keep £10.25 of your mobility payment each week) you can drive away with the 1.5 petrol 106bhp 5 door, fuel economy is not the best at 48.7 miles per gallon but it’s a cracking offer none the less.
Toyota Rav 4 is on the Scheme, we are still in shock, it may only be the 2wd 2.0 litre diesel in icon trim (lots of goodies at £1995 AP) and not the more powerful 2.2 but there is even a 4wd Automatic at £2999 AP – ok it is the petrol automatic with poor economy (39.2 mpg). But it’s a start.
Ford Grand Tourneo with sliding rear doors and seven seats is now available, £1045 AP in Titanium trim with the 1.6 115bhp diesel engine, no Automatic choice.
New Citroen C1 from £52.75 per week, super sleek three and five door, 1.0 litre petrol engine offering 68.9 miles per gallon, the option for a roll back cloth roof ‘Airspace’ from £54.75 per week
Bmw 3 series prices have increased, squeezing out some of the more powerful cars and the Automatic choice is now very limited. The Saloon 318d sport is now £2699 AP, a £700 increase.
No BMW 2 Series, Mazda 3, Alfa Giulietta, Ford Eco Sport etc..
WPMS prices
It has been requested that we include the WPMS (War Pension Mobility Supplement) prices on the site, something we will start on 1st July. WPMS weekly payments are presently £63.40 per week compared to £56.75 for DLA/PIP. Over the three years of a lease, assuming no increase in awards, the WPMS recipient will receive £1037.40 more than a DLA/PIP recipient meaning that on average Advance Payments for War Pensioners are around £1000 less than those of DLA/PIP. Even with this extra award there are no more cars available to War Pensioners. In order to show these prices and in an attempt to not make the site too cluttered we will add the Advance Payments in brackets after the DLA/PIP information an in this example:
Spring Best Buy – Nissan X-Trail 1.6 (130bhp) diesel Acenta (Manual) 5 seats – £1199 Advance Payment (£193 wpms) or
£1699 (£693 wpms) as CVT Automatic
There are a great many more cars available to WPMS recipients that do not require an advance payment and in this instance we will include only the weekly amount due as in this example:
Spring Best Buy – Suzuki SX4 S-Cross 2 wheel drive 1.6 petrol SZ4 5 speed manual – £99 Advance Payment (£57.97 wpms) or
£499 (£60.66 wpms) in SZ-T trim
Every movement up or down on the previous price can be tracked with our little arrows. means the price has increased (if you place your mouse on the arrow you can see by how much the price has increased) and if the price has decreased you will see a green arrow
or is there is no change in price the arrows will be side by side
.
hi there, anybody thinking of getting a vw schirocco ,if you are order as soon as possible .vw have changed the interia options, the gt version of the car comes in full leather at the moment but in the new model is £1800 extra .you can stiil order this from stock but no new build orders will be taken
also the 160bhp 1.4 is being fazed out in favour of the 125bhp version, thr 2.0litre is not available {pertol}so it looks like less choice for us once again
Last week I noticed the total number of vehicles on the the scheme was 2388 according to the official scheme website now it’s 2327, 61 vehicles either hidden or vanished ? When are there going to be positive changes for the customers ??
I noticed yesterday that the 2 litre Astra GTC 165bhp diesels have gone. I was going to replace my Sport with an SRi next time around, but not now. Sorry, Vauxhall – I deliberately ‘bought British’ the first time around, but next time I’ll be getting something German that still has enough power to get up the hill I live on.
Honestly Georgie the way the scheme is run now is diabolical it’ll get to the stage where there will be a choice of one engine / spec with either manual or auto (mainly manuals) for each individual vehicle e.g ford focus 1.6 petrol manual or auto it’s disgusting I would love to leave the scheme but currently I simply couldn’t afford to so I’m stuck as are probably many other customers
Chris your rite, think they should change the mobility name to MPobility or VIPobility , then we can have 2jags,
Very true Normski it’s honestly atrocious, motability customer services have been excellent with me my current vehicle was meant to be changed many months ago but due to circumstances out of my control I haven’t been able to find a suitable vehicle. I’m pig sick of being made to feel like a 3rd class citizen in dealerships. All my local ones in Carlisle Cumbria cannot be bothered with customers. Motability also say in their guidelines to take a test drive, but no dealerships have hand controlled vehicles to test drive and it’s far from the same sitting in the passenger seat. Surely motability should state a requirement to at least have some form of adaptions, I mean I was given a hire care with portable adaptations with push pull accelerator and brake so it is possible
Chris
You can get Lynx hand controls which can be temporary attached to any car. You could test drive autos using them. They can be easily attachéd and take half a hour to install.
Do the dealerships have them Craig or do I need to buy them myself ?
Not sure. They cost about £200. I’ve driven them when my car had to get repaired. I had a hire car fitted with lynk controls. It was tricky at first but got used to them after a while.
Now 2326
And there goes the “something German that still has enough power to get up the hill I live on.” Terrific. Back to square one.
hi everyone , has anyone had a ford kuga manual or auto on motability.
I am changing my car and it is down to the kuga or the nissan xtrail .we have a large dog ,and would like the suv type car , with either 2 or 4wd ??
Hi john my personal preference was for the kuga both were comfortable/solidly built and good drive I have 2 mastiffs and they fit kuga fine, though xtrail boot is much bigger im afraid its a toss of a coin choice but its heads you win either way, both are fine choices. the kugas a bit quicker,
HI, I recently ordered a Nissan X Trail CVT. Dealership told me that they probably will not be ready till the end of November. Has anyone else heard this ?
hi mungo ,I went to a nissan dealer in kent this week and was told the manual xtrail i wanted would would be available mid december
Woah there…
I have been severely disabled from 5yrs old…Over 50yrs..
I am glad that some of you have the ability to afford thousands of pounds for a deposit…
I can’t afford that luxury…My DLA goes on my care…Due to my disability…
I suppose it’s a matter of how severely a person is disabled…And how many other people/ organisations/ family give money to the disabled person…
I had no one..
I’m truly happy that most of you can afford a £2,000 deposit..
I can’t..Not now..Not ever..
Apparently..I make people sick…Because of my disability..and asking a serious question..
It’s a shame that i can’t work…I been disabled since i was a child..Sorry…
I apologise to you, for my disability..
Oh well..Your posts above just show the abuse that i, as a well known campaigning/ very popular ‘Disability’ website owning person gets..
I’m also happy that you can save thousands of £££s…and have family and friends who pay up…When most disabled people live in poverty..
Well done…
Dee
Dee,
We fully understand how you feel and how eloquently you made your point (on both posts). The simple fact is that we review cars as they come onto the Scheme and the new models invariably attract a premium price, simple supply and demand. The fact exists that only a small percentage of customers pay an Advance Payment over £250 for their car. You are correct to point out that our attention is drawn to these higher priced vehicles, a situation we will arrest, there are some intriguing cars that are new to the scheme that we will be reviewing shortly, the Dacia Logan for example and we are great advocates of the Citroen Berlingo, a car we own.
@WhichMobility…
Thankyou for your honest and understanding answer…
It is 100% appreciated.
This is an impressive and informative website..(and i am not patronising you)
Nice one..Seriously..
Dee
Just for anyone who is interested.
I am a single parent working full time within my own accountancy business.
I have two children. I have a son who is blind and a daughter with no disability.
Before my son was granted motabilty at 3, I had my own car, which was an average car but new ish and nice. I chose to have a car for my son through motabilty to save spending money on all the expenses that come with owning your own.
I now have for my family a q3 on behalf of motabilty for my son. I paid £1999 AP.
My son wouldn’t care what car we had, although he does like it when they are loud.
Having this car and paying extra was purely my preference. I wok extremely hard for my money so I would like a nice car.
Wether I have this car or not, my son has transport. So I don’t see the problem in my hard earned money paying for my family to have a really smart car.
People think I use his disability car for a flash car? Ha!
No, but why not get a nice one? My son doesn’t go without, he’s got everything and more.
Everyone that has a disability is equal, yes some are more severe but that doesn’t make anyone more important. The amount of looks I get when I get myself and my children out my car after parking in a disabled parking space is disgraceful, especially from the elderly!
One thing is for sure, I would never sit in a car again nice or a banger if I could give my sons blindness away. But that isn’t possible so why not have a nice car. People should stop being jealous and envious of others and appreciate what you have got right in front of you and for who you are. My son has never once felt sorry for himself and won’t let him. He is as able as he lets himself be
Well just to say my disabled Son was born with a disability and I can assure you he isn’t rolling in money he does not smoke does not drink every penny he saves for and it takes him 3 years to save up for his deposit he needs a large car for his height as he is very tall it would be great if he could get a car on nil deposit but it seems small cars are in this category as we travel a lot in the UK so we need a large type car for all the equipment and cases, am sure you would take his place in society people like DEE that make comments make me sick I work very hard to keep my son and my disabled daughter at home unlike some parents that would ignore them and have them put in care in future keep your comments to yourself……………..
Yep your so rite Kev , some folk just havn,t got a clue how mobility people have to manage , I for one have worked for 40 yrs but can not now , so what savings I have would like to use how and when I would like ie a nice motor, I don,t smoke drink very little alcohol can do very little , had to give up my hobbies and there is always someone worse off health wise than myself, so if anyone would like to give it a try be my guest
to normski and kev
couldn’t have put it better myself

just because you are in a situation where you cannot afford an advanced payment does not give you the right to say that because people who can save money or have money means they are any less better off than you Dee is amazing, im disabled from an accident i sustained 4 years ago and im not ashamed to say that yeah i can afford what ever car i choose but in reality the choice is always limiting in some ways for some more than others, so please if you wnt a rant at how you cnt do anything for yourself maybe dont drive and save your money for the bus pass that im sure you get for free anyway.

@Whichmobilitycar..
Where do think the average disabled person can afford an AP of £1000’s..????
Please..Surely you must know that most of could never afford such a high AP…so a bit pointless doing reviews on them..
Also..If any of you disabled people out there can afford a couple of £1,000 AP…How do you do it?..
I couldn’t save a £1,000 in a year (thru no fault of my own)
So..Once again..Why on earth does this site even bother with reviewing cars with astronomical APs, regardlesss how good they are ?..
Sorry to seem so negative towards this website..It’s just that it may appear to any non-disabled outsider, who visits this site, that all disabled people are just rolling around in cash provided by the government.
I apologise if i have come across as in agreement with the Tory policy towards disabled people and their attitude towards DLA/ PIP recipients…I most ‘definitely’ am not and campaign hard for the rights of the slightly disabled and the most severe..
I hope some of you can see where i am coming from, in my way of thinking..
Thanks..
Dee
Hi Dee,
You are right in some respects, however if you got a nil deposit car, then put £30a month aside for 5 years (extending your lease from 3 to 5 years) then you would have saved £2000 for your next AP.
I’m not saying this to lecture, I don’t qualify to be able to get a car at all and will never be able to afford any new car, it’s just to point out that it is possible to aspire. Bearing in mind if you had to buy your own car the costs would probably total more that £30 a month.
I don’t begrudge anyone a car, we aren’t all equal financially, so if someone has money they can put towards the AP then that’s great for them.
On the flip side, just because you can’t afford an AP doesn’t mean you can’t get an excellent car.
Looks like with the popularity of the Outlander PHEV it looks like this will be delayed and put forward to 2015 just hope it goes on in January
Hi, has anyone ordered a Nissan X Trail, and have you received it yet, only reason is that dealership said that they will not be ready till end November for delivery.
Is the Mazda CX 5 available on motability? I’m sure it was a few days ago or was I seeing things 🙁
Hi which mobility I posted several blogs regarding the cactus c4…just wondering if you have had a chance to look into my enquiry.
Mal.
Mal,
We will chase Citroen up and see if we can get a definitive answer as to a date for the C4 Cactus, we followed one through the streets of France and it looks a bit more quirky out of the showroom when mixed with ‘normal’ cars.
Hi, just found this excellent website, learnt a lot from reading other customers comments. My question is, I am not due to change until Jan 2015, but have already decided to pick a Skoda Superb Elegance 170bhp. If there is a six months waiting list for this car can I place an order with my local Skoda dealer now. I am a War Pension customer.
Hi Paul I ordered the Supurb in the same engine and spec you are considering, my date of ordering was the 2nd of Aug even though I didn’t have my renewal letter and my renewal date was 2nd Sep. I went to look at the Supurb and the dealer advised a 4 month waiting list and was more than happy to allow me to order my car then go back to the dealer when I got my paperwork to complete the order, I hope this helps and judging by the brief test drive e had I don’t think you will regret your decision. i’m due for deliver on the 2nd Dec and on the 3rd we are travelling to Plymouth from Newcastle which should be a good chance for it to get some miles on the clock, we have done this journey before in our current Ford C-Max and it is a pain in the bum , literally lol. I would urge you to get your dealer to throw in floor mats though because they are a £75 option from Skoda which for a £27k ish car is a bit of a disgrace. My car is standard with no options because you really don’t need to add anything to it, good luck with your order.
Hi which mobility I’m just wondering if you have managed to get any information on the advanced payment for the c4 cactus.
Many thanks
Malcolm
Which mobility do you have a rough idea of how much if any the advanced payment will be on the c4 cactus. ..
Many thanks
Mal.
Hi which mobility please could you if possible let me know if you have a rough idea regarding the CACTUS C4 if there will be an Advanced Payment on it, and if so have you an idea roughly how much it would be. If you don’t know could you possibly ask the question.
Many thanks
Mal.
Can anyone tell me why Citroen charge an extra £600 for the semi-auto gearbox on the C4 Picasso in Exclusive trim yet charge an extra £700 for the same gearbox in Exclusive+ trim? What makes this even worse is that the extra charge for the semi-auto gearbox if buying the car privately is only £500.
Because the price of the 2 trim levels are different, exclusive+ is more expensive than exclusive therefore the price of the trim levels with same engine/gearbox will be different
That doesn’t answer my question though. I’m asking why the semi-auto gearbox attracts a higher additional cost in Exclusive+ trim than it does in Exclusive trim.
All 1.6 e-HDi 115PS engined cars
Exclusive manual £695
Exclusive semi-auto £1295 – £600 more
Exclusive+ manual £995
Exclusive+ semi-auto £1695 – £700 more
What makes this worse is that, like I said before, Citroen only charge £500 (list price) for this semi-auto box to private buyers.
Great news if correct to see the Outlander PHEV coming to the scheme will be placing my order soon as am not due to order till January 2015
Can anyone tell me why Citroen charge an extra £600 for the ETG6 semi-auto gearbox on the VTR+ C4 Picasso (£700 on the Exclusive+) when it’s only £500 more list price when buying the car privately?
Also £750 for xenon headlights that use lower power 25w bulbs and don’t need washers and auto-levellers seems quite expensive.
On been given a Kia Sportage KX3 on loan as my Sportage 2 model is in the garage being repaired any chances on this model being added in the near future to the Motability range or will have to go with the Outlander or (ix35 4wd which is practically same car as the Sportage)
Outlander phev is coming to the scheme too according to motability expected end of this quarter 148mpg
Has motability confirmed the outlander phev or are they saying it ‘might’ be coming? A lot of people will order this car, myself included.
If it is true that the PHEV will be coming on to the scheme at the end of the quarter I will be VERY upset as I have been in contact with mitsubishi meany time , I even got them to confer with there head office. I was told directly that the PHEV would not be coming on to the scheme as
Firstly – it is brand new concept car …. It needed time to see if the British market would take to it and what it’s resale value would be . As the PHEV was only released in June and most Mitsubishi garages have only just received there there first demo, how can tell if the British market have taken to it yet !
Secondly- even though with a government grant of £5000 towards the battery of the car made the selling price the same as outlander diesel version ( diesel version is on the scheme) but if any thing happened to the car the insurance would have to pay out the hole lot as a second government grant would not be issued ! Bumping the price of the car above the scheme allowance !
Taking all that into hand I decided to go ahead and ordered my mitsubishi Outland -Diesel version just 10 days ago !! With a down an advanced payment £2799.00 !!!!!
I will be very upset that mitsubishi head office had misinformed me
And after all the information they fave me about the ” not being on the scheme” I would be very shocked to see it on there .
If it does go on the scheme GET IT! it is a fantastic concept and a great car .
I does go on I think the arrival of my new car will be tarnished evermore !
They confirmed it to me but couldn’t give an exact date I’ve extended my lease to wait for the phev now
Waited an hour and a half at St Helens Vauxhall but the motability salesman still never appeared after two complimentary coffees. at St Helens ford they all sat in a little room drinking tea watching me look at cars from the outside, Wigan Vauxhall did not have any of the astra models I was interested in and no time for a quick spin round the block in one. On the whole its a terrible apathy your faced with and ive had to extend my lease for six months I haven’t the energy to keep going to these places and getting nowhere. They just want you to go in, state a model ask no questionsl just sign the paper, in fact anything that involves more time than that and they feel out of pocket and they are hardened to any mention of a discount, after all they are doing us a favour by wasting their time on such low reward work.
Maybe if they were paid by commission we would see some enthusiasm.
Ecosport added but no ruddy autos why do motability allow this??
Hi everyone reading some of the comments about the disgusting way some people have been treated while visiting some dealers is shocking to me. It really annoys me that some dealers are assuming because we are a motability customer we don’t want a car with good spec and god forbid anything with over 115bhp. I’m not sure if I would have got patronised while ordering my Skoda Supurb or not because I already knew what spec and engine and gearbox I wanted so I didn’t really give the sales woman a chance to try to tell me what would be better fro me. However I’ve just remembered a comment made by a previous sales person when I went on a visit to the same dealer a few weeks earlier to find out more information about the car he automatically gave me the AP for the Supurb 140bhp and didn’t even give me the price for the 170 now I’m not sure if it was just an oversight on his part and maybe if I’d asked there wouldn’t have been an issure but the fact he gave me the price for the lower powered version does kind of make me think why did he do that? Good luck Sally on finding the right car for your needs maybe try a Yeti the seats are excellent and have a slightly longer base which supports your legs better.
Having read some of the comments of the way Motability customers have been treated have really surprised me. I have recently visited VW, BMW, Mercedes, Honda and Volvo dealerships in Belfast and I have to say the treatment was nothing short of exceptional , I was not made to feel different in any way.
I placed an order for ds3 dsport+ airdream 115 for £95 advance payment in june. The dealer informed me that I will receive the bluehdi 120 and led lights, spoke to motabilty and they are saying I have to pay £595 advance payment. Will I be asked to pay the increase? motability rep seem’s to think I would because the car has changed but at the time of ordering the dealer couldn’t order me the the old engine model. Just asking as a head’s up, will phone motability to confirm when they open.
James,
Explain the full details to Motability in the morning, they are on your side and are not in the business of extracting unnecessary advance payments from their customers.
Your decision to include the WPMS Motability prices from this month is very welcome as it saves a lot of time having to search about for them.
I am due to order my new Motability car anytime now, however, clicking your Manufacturer links above I cannot find the War Pension prices for either Audi or Ford cars on the scheme
Is it possible to provide a link to them?
Many thanks
Peter
Peter,
Regarding Audi cars, if you click on the individual car it will open a full review where the wpms prices are listed. All Ford CArs have the updated prices, again click on the picture to open a full review.
Thank you.
I have managed to eventually find the Ford advance payments on the actual Ford website.
I still cannot find the Audi WPMS advance prices though. If I click on the Audi Picture in the manufacturers list at the top of this page all I get is a book of DLA prices. I cannot find them on the Audi site either – they must be hiding.
Am I missing something (as a 68yr old I am still learning this internet thing)?
Thank you
Peter
do you know if the ds3 d sport plus will be comeing back, and any clues to the a/v payment, last of all what changes have they done to it .thank
Hi Peter, the citroen ds3 dsport plus is still on the scheme, it is an A.P of £595 for both 1.6 petrol at 155bhp or 1.6 diesel 115bhp, I currently have a ds3 dsport plus, it’s a fantastic car, I recently placed an order for a ds4 dsport, for £1000 extra, the new ds3 have had a facelift of xenon headlights and new design alloys, plus a new model the desire. My dealer told me certain spec of ds3 are getting the facelift (not the dsport or dsport plus though) but it’s still look of the draw when you place an order weather you do get the facelift or the older look ds3 as there not being made to order, there is plenty in stock. If it doesn’t bother you go for it, but do ask your dealer regarding spec. Also look at the ds4 so much more car for a little amount more.
2 things…..
First of all the numbers of cars on motability site is saying 2303 now but can only see as far as 2000 or is that just me?
Plus whichmobilitycar I posted here last night saying the motability site is now showing match spec golfs ? Although you never published my post?
My apologies you had published first post it wasnt showing for me but is now however motability seemed to have lost 308 vehicles on their site as 2000 are showing only
Hi everyone I just wanted to share my experience of a good Motability dealer, I wrote about my bad experience further down in these comments but today i visted Benfield Skoda in Newcastle and the whole experience could not have been different. I only went to try out the Supurb as I don’t get my letter to renew until the very end of Augest but I ended up placing my order becasue there is a 4 month waiting list and by doing it now I was assured I’d not have to make any extension to my current car while I waited. But it just goes to show that there are some dealers who actually do take the time to do what they can to help, I know Skoda get really good reviews about their customer service and going off my experience today I can see why, now roll on December 2 when i can get my car which by the way is a Skoda Supurb 2.0 diesel 170bhp with a DSG gearbox in black with ivory trim
I would agree with you that the Skoda Benfield dealership is good – Sales persons – but awful – receptionist. I ordered a yeti but backed down a few days later. The salesman was excellent, but understandably so through gritted teeth!
Trying to get a hold of the sales team via the phone was a case of “not in/with a customer/on lunch” Understandable of course but a simple “he will be 10 mins/i will get him to call you/whats your name” goes a long way to someone on the other end of the phone and a possible customer. Thats right Benfield a little bit of training might help for your not so junior receptionist
Golf match editions now listed on motability
What i have found a bit odd is that coming to the end of my 1st motability deal with a peugeot 3008, not one, not one phone call from the supplying dealer to say “you are coming to the end, would you be interested in 3008,5008 etc etc the new this , that”
Not one jot of interest. Couldnt give a dam
From the comments in these forums, several of the in demand cars (Audi Q3 S-line etc) that have been removed from the list seem to have long delivery times (6 months). Is this the overriding reason they
are being removed from the scheme? Surely Motability could just asterisk these models with a note stating long delivery time expected. Then at least everyone knows where they stand in terms of wait time, and, hopefully, everyone is happy in getting their preferred choice!
I too can only comment on the disgusting attitude of the dealers towards Motability customers. I recently decided to take up the motability offer and decided to visit a few dealerships to discuss my options. The majority were just not interested and were downright rude. Seat dealerships were the worst with a take it or leave it attitude, closely followed by VW and Ford. I got fed up of calling our local Ford dealer and left messages on at least 6 occasions for him to call me back without success. Eventually after a couple of visits to our local Vauxhall dealer I ordered a GTC. They have been great so far with their Motability specialist even coming into work on her day off so she could hand over the car. It’s a shame these other dealers behave the way that they do and see us as second class citizens. I didn’t ask to be disabled and would very much wish they could find a cure for my disability and at the end of the day the car isn’t free either.
Hi there I totally agree about Ford I have had terrible service with my current car, and agree that Vauxhall seem to do it right but I really do think it’s not down to the brand it’s the dealer group you visit, Before a motability car we had a Nissan Qashqai and I just ordered my second motability car yesterday from Skoda and the Nissan and Skoda dealers are part of the same group Benfield Motors who really are on the ball. It makes me laugh at the lack of helpfulness I know there is no commission from a motability car but the car still counts as a sale and surely that would be just as important to the powers that be at the dealer.
My experience with my skoda dealer was great and although not much to stand out its a skoda fabia estate vrs dsg with paddle shift if you want to use manual.
And what a good ride although firm its so comfortable and gets 53mpg which is not bad for around town driving.I have a four way hoist in the boot for my small boot scooter and hand controls.
What i do like its low profile but a wolf in sheeps clothing a shame its not going to be available when the new fabia comes out at the end of this year, although the octavia vrs will be.
180bhp and 0.60 in 7.3 seconds some have found it faster than that but its so good to drive as well turbo supercharged with traction control its a blast.
Hi! noticed that audi has put the 177bhp 4wd Q3 back on motability good news but high ap
Hi everyone as someone who is due to order my new car at the beginning of September it got me thinking about my experience with my current car and made me wonder if anyone else thought about their expereince too. The thing that got em thinking arose when I got a call from my dealer saying the service for my car was due however it gets serviced every year and yes it was true the dealer’s suggested milage for a service was coming up for my car, the thought that they should have checked this before calling me sprung to mind. Then I got to thinking about my experience with my dealer and I have to say it has not been the best experience I’ve ever had, I have a guide dog and once when my car was in for a service I was asked if I’d be able to not put my dog in the courtesy car because the next person might have a dog hair issue. I was disgusted at this and pointed out that by asking me to not put her in the car they were breaking the law. I even went as far as writing to the dealer’s customer service director and promptly got a groveling apology and assuring me this would not happen again but it did happen again when y car went in for a break issue to be sorted out. I sent another email and again got an apology but this put me off getting another car from the dealer. Then I got to thinking about my car which is a Ford C-Max and I think I should have tried a lot more cars before going for it because it’s not very comfy it crashes over speed bumps and has too much road and wind noise getting into the cabin, and for that reason I’m going for a Skoda in September. But this got me thinking has anyone else had any regret about their car and have you had a good experience with the dealer?
Hi john, I have a Volkswagen and dealing with the dealership has been horrible for me. I think the staff are under the impression we get these cars for free! Volkswagen make you feel I second class citizen.
Hi John , I have had 5 Motability scheme cars over the last 16 years and have had problems with all of them. We all know that cars have there problems but some times the simplest thing like customer service can put our minds at ease.
My last Motability car I saved up and treated myself with a BMW 1 series convertible I had to pay just over £3000 PA but it was well worth it . BMW’s service and after care was amazing . With calls from the sales person ever 6 months to make sure I was ok .
Before I had my BMW I had 2x peugeot’s ( one being a 307 convertible that I paid £2800 PA) before those I had vw golf and a vw polo
With VW and Peugeot I always felt as though I was treated as a second class costumer ( that was a few years ago thing have probably changed since ) my car scheme came to an end a few months ago and I have had a privet car since but I have decided to return to the scheme. So I’ve been visiting lots of show rooms trying out some new cars that suit my needs . I’ve visited my local skoda three times over the past few weeks only to find every time that the “Motability ” salesmen was not in (and they didn’t know when he would be back) but more to the point non of the other sales personal would see me or show me around due to the fact that they didn’t know a lot about the scheme !
I had hoped sales mens views of Motability costumers had changed but I had a bit of a shock last Wednesday when visiting my local Volvo – lovely cars “V40″ a lot of kit for your money and amazing mpg ! But whilst on the test drive I was told by the Motability salesman that -” at the end of the day Motability is a charity and you should be grateful for what you get” !!!!!! This was in reply to a simple question of what upgrades are available !
Sorry Volvo I liked your cars but not your sales pitches !
Unlike normal costumers where not able to go into a show room and pic and choose who we speak to . Normally there is just one Motability sales person for the showroom or quit often for a combined showroom ie- Subaru ,mitsubishi and suzuki joined show room will have just one salesperson for us and if you find you don’t “Gel” / get on with the salesperson it can make the transaction of sorting out your new car a little difficult , I would always suggest checking out the rival showrooms in the next town or city sometimes if there a smaller show room they will have better costumer service as they have more time for you and they will value your custom. ( also smaller garages are more inclined to give discounts or add on to sweeten the deal particularly towards the end of the month )
Could I suggest you have a look at the mitsubishi ASX 2wd it is very roomy and a very comfortable ride . It has a large boot for your dog and is higher off the ground for easy access down payments start at £99 for the 1.6L 2WD
But I could be a little biased as I’m just in the process of ordering its big brother the mitsubishi outlander .
All the best
Travis
It’s a shame there is such a lack of respect for Motability customers from some dealers. I think the problem is that they don’t get a bonus from selling a Motability car, so they can’t always be bothered to offer good customer service. You can bet if they did get a bonus, then they would be much better at selling towards Motability customers. Motability don’t do anything about it though, which they should.
our last 2 cars have both been vauxhalls from dickens of wrexham and have dealt with trevor and we have never had a problem with him or the dealership
we are currently awaiting delivery of a bmw from halliwell jones of chester who are really great and cant do enough for the customer
always greeted with a smile and a coffee while waith for the salesman who then looks after you properly -test drives arranged with or without him
I’ve just had the same at volvo looking at a v40!! I m not fazed by anyhing or anyone but after his patronising comments that he didn’t think the car was for me!! As ” power was more important to me than anything else ! Was terrrible! On top of my spinal disorder I’d slipped a disc after driving a Manuel BMW test drive!! My comment to him was what do you think I’m doing at a volvo garage if comfort was nt my key thing!! I realised he d thought I was putting on an act!!
I left in tears!! I’m debating going to discuss this attitude with manager!!
Funny thing is the could nt do enough for the guy in a wheel car!! I just don’t fit the bill!! Your not in Hull by any chance!! I also reminded this arrogant salesperson that I’ve bought 2 previous Volvo s not on mobility scheme & at what point did a become a third rate customer!!
Hi Sally ,
Sorry that you had to go through that with the “loving” salesmen in Volvo !
There obviously all trained buy the same arogunt person !
I’m based in South Wales and attended the Cardiff branch .
This might sound a bit odd but I tried this with my local mitsubishi garage.and it worked a lot better .
( I had already viseted the Cardiff branch and the where useless )
I called the branch in the next town and asked to speak the Motability salesmen – I told him a brief description about what I had wrong (not every one would be comfortable talking to a stranger about there issues ) and what I needed and asked him his views on the cars that he had on the scheme .
By doing this the Motability sales men will know that you are a genuine applicant and some who does really need there help .
Unfortunately with all the program’s on tv recently ie- benefit Britain etc
Any one who gets some thing for nothing is looked down on until proven worthy in there own eyes !
Sally I really do wish you the best of luck x
Yep long standing Motability customer and I dread the experience of changing the car. Which is problem as I’m a real petrolhead, but most dealers are just disinterested and don’t give a flying fig and it really turns me off wanting to be bothered. I’ve had some good dealers but mainly you get the impression your far to much trouble especially if you have the nerve to turn at a weekend! Looking now for a replacement for my Mondeo estate which I had to give up 18 months early due to medical reasons. That came for a small family owned Ford garage and was not a bad experience at all from a Ford dealer. Now looking at Skoda and the sales guy could hardly string more than a couple of words together you had to talk at him to get a response very hard work and I felt totally despondent about the whole experience except the car which I was eventually allowed to test drive after he’d driven it about 3 miles out from the dealership.
i’ve had a ford c max titanium automatic 2ltr almosy three years and its the most confortable and best car ive ever had,and ive had alot so just goes to show have a long test drive before you buy, what suits the goose not necessarily suits the gander
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Do you know if there are any chances that this vehicle will be on the Motability scheme as others on the range are
There are no plans for the Outlander PHEV to join the scheme in the near future.
Just thought with the Leaf being reduced but with us folks in out of town areas the range in miles is not good enough in winter the chances of other electric vehicles being in the price list like the Vauxhall Ampera but with only 4 seats a full 5 seat model should be available Motability should consider this.
Hi Kev , I have been asking this same questions for weeks .
I need a larger 4×4 and not a so called mini 4×4 / crossover !
I have been told start from the Mitsubishi them selves – the PHEV is a new concept 4×4 there not totally sure of its full resale value and there fore it cannot go on to the scheme until it is proven to be a winning 4×4
I’ve had to settle for the diesel version
But I’m still very happy with the car .
Here’s hoping that in three years if the schemes rules haven’t changed that most people on the scheme will be able to be the pioneers and set a standard for the rest of society by going hybrid !
It’s absolutely true that people should have whatever vehicle they want if they cover the advance payment cost, it’s a bit unpleasant however that many commenting seem to consider vehicles less than 25k or not a BMW, Audi, Mercedes or not having a minimum or 200bhp as some sort of worthless dangerous poverty mobile of sufferance. Bully for you if you can afford to drop 2 or 3k on a advance payment or consider leaving the scheme so you don’t have to put up with a ‘basic’ car. There are many for whom 25k is a vast sum of money for anything, let alone a car and the majority of motability users I expect would either not be driving at all or stuck with the cost of nursing a older vehicle along. The pitiless attitude of the Daily mail reader is very much here, just in a different way. 🙂
I think what people mean here about the ’25k cap’ is that the price of normal cars is even starting to exceed that so the cap should be reviewed and maybe raised.
I agree with you Lee it does need looking at, I think a rise in line with inflation would not be out of order
I agree with Lee, that £25,000 figure was set years ago but prices of cars have risen and so should the threshold and they should review it periodically.
The top and bottom of it all is that (WHY) should able folk be able to choose as and what they want but disabled have restrictions, the extra payment is probably what they have saved when they were working, or maybe even inherited (NOT) taxpayers money
Chrise – You are completely misreading the comments that many of us are making and displaying what I regret can only be described as jealousy. The motability customer base reflects society. Disability doesn’t discriminate and affects those on low,or no incomes and also those on high incomes or with high disposable wealth. I have complete and utter respect for those who are happy to drive a small inexpensive car and/or have no interest in cars, using them purely as a means of getting from A to B. Motability provides for these people brilliantly. However, those of us who expect / desire more from a car and / or need or want something bigger and better equipped for a wheelchair, passengers, luggage etc and are in a financial position to be able to afford to do this are discriminated against, even when we are more than happy to pay all of the additional costs ourselves. We are not looking for handouts.
I am very fortunate to be in a financial position that many would envy, but I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I have worked incredibly hard all my life, had responsibilities that would keep most people awake at night and made many sacrifices in order to achieve all that I have. There is a horrible trait in this country where a small minority of those in less fortunate positions deeply resent those who have achieved more, without any recognition of these facts whatsoever. As to whether or not these folk read the Daily Mail I have no idea. I certainly don’t.
Has anybody noticed the mini-mini 2.0 cooper s 3dr advanced payment 1,199, 192bhp average mpg 49.60. 1799 advanced payment in auto 54.30 mpg, 0 to 62 in 6.8 seconds in manual, 6.7 seconds in auto, top speed 146mph in manual and 145mph in auto. I LOVE IT. Also polo blue gt appeared end of last quarter, 150bhp 60.10mpg petrol! auto. Have a look at the interior! I REALLY LIKE IT
James,
Also the 180hp Seat Leon 7.5 seconds 140mph 47.9mpg and the 200hp Vauxhall GTC 42.8 mpg 7.4 seconds 143mph top speed. We will do a review on the top power cars soon.
The 180bhp Seat Leon Fr is a great car, especially with the dsg gearbox, but unless you get the styling kit & 19 inch wheels it looks boring but this kit with the wheels is nearly £4000 as an option/accessory so i dont think many people would opt for that unless seat dealerships done a deal on it.
Is it possible someone can clarify if it is Motability themselves who have the final say on which cars come on/off the scheme, or is it the Manufacturers who have the final say on which cars they will release to the Motability scheme.
Mike,
Motability have the final say over the cars that are on the Scheme as they actually buy the car, if it is a car they do not want to buy – it will not be on the Scheme.
Many thanks for your reply. Appreciate it.
Looks like the consensus on here is that the £25k cap needs reviewing. I hope Motability take an interest in this forum.
Can you tell me if motability pay vat on the cars if not way is it so hard for us on the scheme to buy a car vat free
Travis
Thanks for your reply hope so too mate
I have a SEAT Ibiza at present but have been struggling of late getting in & out due to my disability & the terrible pain I’m in. I was due an upgrade last year & I went to look at a Nissan Qashqai, I had a test drive & it was very comfortable to drive & I was really happy with the car overall & the height of the driver’s seat for getting in & out of the car but when I went to sign every thing up I was extremely let down when the salesman told me my benefit didn’t have have enough time to cover the application for my upgrade.I am new to this benefits & felt embarrassed & salesman was very nice, He said to contact benefits & tell them that my car is due to be upgraded but it can’t be done because of my benefit dates & to ask for an extention!! I did this & was told told NO.
But Motability kindly extended the lease on my motability car & I am now looking for my upgrade but the Qashqai I wanted is now too expensive. And any other Automatic SUV “Crossover” seems out of reach, unless anyone has any suggestions.
Ang,
Take a look at the Peugeot 2008 and the Vauxhall Mokka as they are both well equipped and the Peugeot particularly good value starting at £199.
Has anyone else neen into the Volkswagen UK website and downloaded the latest Motability Price Guide only to find it’s for the 3rd Qtr 2011 so no help at all.
Dave,
Click here to download the new prices https://www.whichmobilitycar.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Volkswagen-Q3-2014.pdf
It’s interesting seeing those old prices, some are nothing short of scary.
Thank you for that we currently have a C-Class which is no longer available very high deposit anyway. We are due to order our next car in August so now thinking of either a Volkswagen Passat or CC
You should have a look at the Skoda Supurb in Elegance trim you get more than you would on the Passat or CC and it has a huge boot if you want space
John, I agree the Skoda Supurb is a great car the taxi we got from the airport on our last holiday and took all off our luggage and wheelchair with ease. It’s just trying to persuade my wife that Skoda aren’t the same cars we all used to joke about in the past. I used to actually quite like them as they had character. I see they have bought the Rapid name back. After all there weren’t too many rear engined rear wheel drive cars about aside from Porsche
My current Scirocco was due for renewal in March. I was very close to ordering the Peugeot RCZ after a test drive, but saw here that the BMW 2 Series could be made available. Called Motability who confirmed it was in negotiation and could possibly enter the scheme midway through Q2. Called them back in Q2 and they said it is very likely to be made available in Q3, so I extended my current car for 6 months.
I am absolutely gutted now that not only has the 2 Series not entered the Scheme but the RCZ has been removed from it. I called them up in hopes that there was a chance the 2 series was pushed back to Q4, and was told that the car was now removed from their list completely and would definitely not be entering the scheme.
Every quarter the availability of cars is reducing, even those under the £25,000 mark with corresponding advance payments. I remember when I first joined the scheme, not too long ago, they had a whole range of vehicles including RX8s.
I think now may be the time to leave Motability (who have provided extremely great service over the years). Rather than spending the £3,000 yearly amount + AP on a basic leased vehicle, it may be better used spending half that money to fund the upkeep of an owned vehicle.
Thank you for your reply which mobility and I look forward to seeing the cactus soon I just hope that they don’t put a higher ap on this fabulous vehicle. And hope that the uk embrace this well thought out clever and practical modern SUV. Especially when 1 of the biggest bug bares that we the public deal with is scrapes, dings on our vehicles by other car users when going shopping or should I say parking anywhere. The air bumps makes total sense especially in the UK. Thank you again which mobility
Mal.
Question for Which Mobility Car – do you know if Motability have any plans to review the ‘limits’ placed on the scheme? Surely this should be done every year or so or we are going backwards in real terms? If you have any influence over them I’d like to see you lobbying them to do so.
£25k is not a vast sum for a decent new car these days and the choice is now severely limited if you want a larger / well equipped car with a decent engine, especially if your preference is for a higher driving position (SUV) and you live out in the sticks and would prefer four wheel drive.
The new X-trail looks really nice, but you can’t get the Tekna (which has the trim and spec I would want) and you can’t make up the spec as options on the N-tec. The Ford Kuga Titanium X does have a great spec, but you can’t get it in the diesel auto, only in petrol which has a very poorly rated auto. The BMW 3 series estate is no longer available in diesel auto and the Volvo V70 can only be had with an underpowered 115PS Powerplant.
I’m quite happy to pay the additional leasing costs and feel that it’s time to review the £2999 AP cap. I really resent the inference that ‘this is all you need’. Can’t disabled people be allowed to have what they ‘want’, especially when they are prepared to pay for it out of their own hard earned money? Motability were spineless to succumb to the Daily Mail nonsense implying that tax payers were funding luxury cars for disabled people and rolled over. They should have defended us and explained that we forsake allowances and pay substantial contributions to leasing costs if we want anything even vaguely approaching ‘luxurious’.
The choice of larger, high spec, decent engine cars is now so severely limited I am contemplating leaving the Motability scheme when my current car lease ends, which seems a real shame.
Hi, sorry to join you on your concerns.
The reality is car prices are going up and this £25,0000.00 was ok ten years ago but not now for a decent safe car now.
If you think under Law, The Equality act is Being broken as we get discriminated against and no form of action is Taking place due to fear.
We are Disabled and now with PiP in place it is harder to get the motability part of PiP.
Also we have rights under the Human Rights Act, to live a most normal life as possible.
I am just feed up with the Law which states one thing and people who are in power trying to influence the mass of brainless people.
Since being diagnosed with MS, all I ever wanted was “HELP”. I used to work but now need “HELP”, as I am unable to enjoy life as I one did with my family.
From the Local Council, Life Cover, work Doctors non of them offer this basic thing called “HELP”. Why ?
Because most are just out for themselves and don’t care about anyone else’s welfare.
I would love a car that is higher up, but need to put down a bigger deposit , which I don’t have, so have to save up and then maybe but within my budget.
Then I do a little research an relies that some of the SARS that are £25k or less or only a little bit more , we get charged a higher advance payment which we don’t see.
Why can’t I choose any car for up to £25k without havering to pay a advance payment?
They won’t as the, rich get richer and the disabled get more disabled.
Hi could you tell me if you know if the citreon c4 cactus will be getting added to the scheme in October thanks
Mal, We are pretty sure it will, we love it – all that is good about Citroen – design over everything else, can’t help feeling that it’s a car that we will see all over Europe and very few on the UK roads, us Brits just wont ‘get it’.
Thank you for your reply and I look forward to seeing the cactus soon I just hope that they don’t put a higher ap on this fabulous vehicle. And hope that the uk embrace this thoughtful, clever and practical modern such. Especially when 1 of the biggest bug bares that we the public deal with is scrapes, dings on our vehicles by other car users when going shopping or should I say parking anywhere.the air bumps makes total sense especially in the UK. Thank you again which mobility.
Mal
Hello,
I am under 25 years of age receiving DLA – Higher rate. I have seen the 1 series (M sport) which ‘can not be driven by a under 25’ solely because it exceeds the one extra BHP (116 bhp… MUST BE 115BHP or below…) so for 1 extra BHP i can’t have the M sport spec, which is such a shame…
Is there any chance motability will allow me to get this as an exception??!
Hi Adam, seems a little silly doesn’t it for one bhp. All you can do is call them and ask, or pop into your local bmw dealership and speak with the motability specialist. There is a cracking little car on the schedule seen. It’s the alfa romeo mitochondrial sportiva, it’s basically the the cloverleaf but without the engine, it has the body kit, 18inch alloys, blutooth etc, it’s 105bhp, and it £295 Advanced payment. Plus there are tonns of options you can have on the car to make it yours. Give it a look.
Adam, also look for the audi A1 s line, you can have the 1.6 turbo diesel at 105bhp also, its advanced payment of £1099, or the 1.2 petrol at £899, give this a look to, extras are a little pricey but dealer may help you out.
Adam,
A number of people have mentioned the BMW 1 series with regard to under 25 availability and the single bhp. The hammer does have to fall somewhere and the cut off point may even have been at 115 bhp to exclude this very car. As Simon advised – calling Motability is the right way to go, should you be successful please share.
Hi could you tell me if the citreon c4 cactus will be getting added to the scheme in October
Dont think this should be allowed
http://samedifference1.com/2014/07/03/dvla-website-lets-visitors-check-on-neighbours-benefits/
Just noticed on motability site number of cars has reduced already from 2265 to 2249 within a week not a good sign but can’t tell what’s be removed
It’s not the removal of cars as such, it’s just the more powerful variants of each model has been removed. At least three variants of vw cc have been removed.
Hi Motability, I’m considering going for a BMW X1 msport 1.8d with AP of £2299. Do you have any other suggestions of similar vehicles? Tiguan is awful inside and not enough boot space.
Mohammad – I don’t get your ‘Tiguan is awful inside’ comment at all. I have a Tiguan at present having had around 10 BMW’s of 3, 5 and 7 series over the years (not with Motability obviously as we have to ‘know our place’ on this scheme and our choice is restricted to what we might ‘need’ rather than what we might ‘want’ and are prepared to pay for)!
Anyway, the Tiguan build quality and quality of materials and finish is as good as any BMW I have driven. In fact, I’d say better. 18 months in I have had one minor snagging issue. By this stage with a BMW I would have had several. I would agree that the interior is somewhat ‘dull’ compared to more modern rivals, but so is the X1 interior, which is quite ‘low rent’ by BMW standards. The R-Line interior is far nicer but, for reasons that I don’t understand, this trim is not available on the scheme.
The boot on the Tiguan is quite small (the one problem we’ve had) but so is the X1’s. As for interior passenger space, the Tiguan is significantly larger than the X1. It’s frankly quite ‘tardis’ like.
One area where I would concede that the BMW is far better is engines. The VW engines are noisier, less refined and less powerful than BMW equivalents.
Keep in mind that ‘all new’ models of the X1 and Tiguan are due out over the next 12-18 months (the X1 may be sooner than that), so you will be driving an ‘out of date’ car very quickly if you order either if them over the next 6 months.
The new X-Trail looks very nice outside and in. Not a prestigious marque and no 4WD auto available on the scheme, but if it rates as well as the new Quasqai then it will be a great car.
I must admit, I think the tiguan interior isn’t the best, take away the vw on the wheel and it does look like the interior of a dacia! It has a certain look, a bit relaxed on quality, a bit mid 90s.
Simon – I don’t think we disagree that the interior of the Tiguan is now a bit dated (as is the exterior), but to state that the quality is ‘relaxed’ is frankly nonsense. I’m not sure what your benchmarks are, but I have driven hundreds of cars, owned dozens (including many top flight cars, some as much as £80k new) and can honestly say that on quality of build and materials the Tiguan is as good as any. I notice that you’ve ordered a Citroen. French car manufacturers certainly have upped their game in recent years on style and you get a lot of kit as standard but, sadly, the only country that seems to have nailed quality is Germany. I drove a Range Rover Evoque recently. Gorgeous looker, inside and out, and the darling of the motoring press who think its near faultless, but it had several rattles, appalling ride quality, wind noise and handled poorly. We all have our own likes and dislikes (thank goodness) and I am no Tiguan devotee – it’s just the best SUV I could get on the Motability scheme when I ordered, but, dated though it now is, it’s still streets ahead of many newer / more stylish SUV’s when it comes to quality of build and materials.
I just think vw and bmw have lost the way a little, or should I say have found a plateau. Other companies are rivaling the big German brands, and upping the game, for me the car I have ordered is just streets ahead all the kit and equipment for alot less money. Plus it has a 2.0 bmw shared engine! To pricey and over the top are German brands, you can’t really now these days buy many cars with bad engines, so bmw vw audi are being beaten very quickly, it’s just the badge snobs and diehard fans that will ignore other as well if not better car makers!
No auto 4×4 Xtrails at all.
Rads,
The only engine in the X-Trail at the moment is the 1.6 diesel which Nissan have not fitted an automatic gearbox to the four wheel drive version, a new DIG-T Petrol engine will arrive in 2015.

Thanks for the heads-up about the model change on the x1. At present I have a Golf 1.6 Match DSG and may opt to go for the same if the rumours are true regarding Match being offered in place of SE spec. I’ve covered approx 25k miles in 3 years on the Golf, majority local. Is there any point in having a diesel for fuel economy as mainly local driving? I’m open to suggestions and want hte best value/spec possible as does everyone else.
Your thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks for the heads-up about the model change on the x1. I’ve covered approx 25k miles in 3 years on the Golf, majority local. Is there any point in having a diesel for fuel economy as mainly local driving? The Golf is a very nice all round car and if offered in the match spec its very hard to beat. I would personally go for the 2.0tdi as the extra power is welcome and fuel economy is very good. with regards to petrol or diesel it all depends on how long you drive and if the car has enough time to heat up anything longer then 10 mins and a diesel should be better. you should also take a diesel for a fast drive 50+ for about 10 mins once every few weeks to clear out the exhaust.
Another car worth looking at would be the BMW 1 series 2.0tdi, a lot of horse power however slightly more expensive and not that many extras. Its also recently had a price hike so not the best value for money.
Hi Mohammad – In almost all cases these days, the diesel version is almost always a far better choice than the petrol equivalent and on the Motability scheme it’s a no brainer. For private buyers, the additional cost of the diesel model (usually £1k more) is more than recovered at resale time, never mind the fuel savings. On the Motability scheme, the improved residual value of the diesel usually means that it costs no more than the cheaper petrol version.
In addition to the cheaper fuel costs with a diesel, you benefit from significant performance advantages due to the phenomenal torque (in-gear acceleration / pull) of modern Diesel engines.
Due to the restricted choice available through Motability, most petrol cars offered are quite weedy in performance terms, yet a modern 2.0 Diesel engine has comparable performance to a 3.0 petrol engine of not that many years ago.
Class leaders by a mile in Diesel engines are BMW. They are hugely refined (near silent), don’t sound like diesels from inside the car, have phenomenal torque and can be driven hard whilst still returning excellent mpg. VW engines, although by no means bad, are no where near as good, but the new Golf has far better build quality and finish than the current X1.
Hi muhammad, check out the citroen ds4, dsport 2.0 hdi 160bhp, it’s a £1695 advanced payment, I’ve just ordered this car. It has full leather, heated massage sports seats, 19 inch alloys, upgrades brakes, blind spot monitoring in rear view mirror, led kerb and interior lighting, dual zone climate control, panoramic windscreen. All this and more as standard. Plus the x1 is due a facelift in the new year, so you will have a 6 month old car that’s the old model.
Thanks for your help.
Called vw this morning as found out the se spec golf has been replaced by the Match spec with more equipment and all notability customers ordering Se spec golf will receive the match ! Instead of SE as per notability site £650 extra equipment for same AP
Thank you Chris.
Which mobility car, if you can not answer my question , to the previous questions, at least you could acknowledge this, regards Normski
If you are referring to the question over the BMW prices? Under the impression that Simon answered that one to your satisfaction. Please clarify.
Ok, thanks for your reply, take it you would have said the same, kind regards
Hi Chris.
I called into my local vw dealer this afternoon after hearing this as I have been keen on the golf auto however the rep advised that he knows nothing of this offer.
Where exactly are the doing this?
Thanks
I rang vw themselves and was told that they have stopped building SE spec cars so customers automatically will be given MATCH spec 🙂
spoken to my VW dealership too. I was laughed at when I told the sales rep this…?!
Spoke to vw again confirmed match spec again in replace of SE try calling 08000833914? Others may get a different response
The match is now available on the scheme
Does this mean the New Golf SE TDI 5dr 1.6 7spd auto DSG will be replaced by the Match spec? I have a Mark 6 Match 1.6 DSG at present and would be interested if this is the case.
I saw the new Jeep Cherokee at the Manchester Motability day in May and see it is also scheduled for the 8 July Motability event in Bluewater London.
However I don’t see it on the list of Motability choices this quarter.
Does anybody know whether the Jeep will be on the list soon?
I love it and would be delighted if it was on the list.
Hi, where did you see it advertised that the jeep will be at 8th july event? As i downloaded the car list for the event and its not on. Would be nice to see this car added though.
I had another check just now and see it’s removed. Earlier this week i still saw it. I guess that answers my question. Bit of a tease to show it at the Manchester event end of May then. I guess the automatic would have been too pricey anyway.
Maybe it was scheduled to come onto the scheme but since this new list has come out motability has dropped it? I saw the list of cars with it on and a one without so looks like it has been removed, wonder if which mobility could help?
About a month ago a Jeep dealer told me it wasn’t clear if it would be on Motability as there had been an initial miscommunication on the CO2 emissions and insurance group.
Hi, just a quick Q.
I’ve ordered grand c4 picasso on Tuesday and I was promised it was in stock and now on Thursday I received a phone call telling me the car is gone.
How far can I go, asking for a discount if ordered from manufacture which will take minimum 8 weeks?
Thanks
Diego,
We can fully appreciate your situation, sometimes the wait for a car to be built is far from convenient, the problem is that it is now the default position. Car stocks that dealers can call off are now a thing of the past, the ‘just in time’ production process has put pay to swathes of cars sitting on dock sides. Speak to the dealer and see what they can do for you, there are a few websites out there that may be able to help regarding sourcing a car, take a look at ‘car wow’ where you can send a message to a large number of dealerships at once, you may get lucky and find a stock car.

Hi which mobility car, correct me if I am wrong, the bmw 316 touring rear wheel drive advance payment is £2899 the Bmw X1 xdrive 4×4 A.P is £2299 seems to me that the touring should be a 2.0ltr xdrive for that kind of Advance payment
Hi normski, bmw are trying to get rid of as many x1 models as they can because the new facelift due out soon. The 3 series is already the facelift model. They can afford to hike up the price on that model to their hearts desire.
Simon, your probaly rite, however I thought the x1 I have at the moment was the new facelift model , is there another facelift soon ? It is now 2 yr old
Yes it’s due within the next 6 months, the dealership I went to said it should be ready for sale in the new year (Jan) but unsure it would be on the motability scheme as the new prices are steep! It was something I was looking at myself, I ordered my car on Tuesday I opted for the citroen ds4 dsport, has all the kit at £1695. I mean all the kit including leather heated massage seats, dab, 19inch alloys, lane departure and blind spot in rear view mirror, park assist, pearlescent paint. It’s a 2.0 diesel turbo, 160bhp and tonnes of torque, definitely better than a X1.
Simon, sounds like you,ve getting a good buy there well worth the AP, however my X1 has 184 bhp x 4 x drive, however yours does sound like a gem ,enjoy
Yes normski bhp is higher on x1 but all bhp does is show top speed of a vehicle, always look at lb ft of torque a vehicle has, this is what propels your vehicle to top speed, 0-60. I’ve driven the x1 and it has far less torque than a ds4. Put it this way, my current car ds3 is a 1.6 110bhp diesel, compare this to a bmw 120d msport at 184bhp. 0-60 for bmw is 7.2 seconds, exactly the same as my ds3!!. Always looks at lb ft of torque on vehicles, some dealers can fob you off.
Hi there,
BMW have really hit hard wit price increases across most of the range. I ordered a 1 series 120D M Sport 5 door on the 30/06 at the AP of £1699, it is now £1999. I
did hesitate but the dealer did advise to at least place the order to avoid any potential increase, lucky I did. In general on the prestige models prices since December have steadily risen, with some amazing models being sadly axed from the scheme for ever. (i.e Audi Q3 Quattro SLine!!)
Hi,
I noticed that the sizuki grand vitara has disappeared from the list. Is this correct or an oversight?
Any suggestions for alternatives? I like the rav4 but I believe there’s no 4×4 version?
Hi I need some help, i’m due to change my car next month and after considering an Insignia Ichanged my mind to a Qashqai but now have changed my mind again and have settled on a Skoda Supurb 2.0 Elegance DSG, however the price of Supurb has gone up and for the model I was looking at it has gone from £2045 to £2200. My question is can I ask for a discount or try to get anything thrown in I was thinking about the heated washer jet’s but not really sure if these are already on the car the Skoda website doesn’t really make it clear. I’d be thankful for any help. Thanks in advance
I was looking at one of these only the 4×4 version I was looking at appears to have been removed. Yes it’s £50 for the heated washer jets. Seems stupid when the car already has a heated screen and seats as standard.
It does seem stupid but on the upside it does have everything else on it so it’s not a major issue, I guess I’ll see how much the dealer wants a sale i don’t think £50 will mean anything to them.
Hi, which motability, Bmw X1 xdrive 2.0td xline £31,855 — Bmw 320 xdrive touring £30,950 why is the X1 on the scheme but not the 320 touring ? Does not make sense to me, maybe you no why
All comes down to the discount the manufacturer gives motability from what im told. In all honesty the scheme has gone down hill recently and i think soon the remaining ‘nice cars’ will be removed as they are slowly disappearing.
Anyone looking for an affordable ‘sporty’ car should take a look at the Astra GTC: 2.0TD SRi Auto (165bhp) is only £349AP and the 1.6SRi (petrol) Manual (200bhp) is £999AP. Looks nice, handles well, room for a wheelchair in the boot. Down side – hyper-strut suspension means turning circle is vast and high sills + small rear window makes parking a bit tricky. The ‘What Car’ review is spot on, especially regarding wheel size.
They have only black and silver in stock and Im already told no discount.
What shall I do as they are the only dealer that has grand c4 in stock.
Decided not to take any chances and ordered VW CC GT with extras of folding mirrors, parking assist and diff lock on Saturday. Had looked at BMW X1 2.0sport and 1.8M Sport, Volvo XC 40 and Leon FR but nothing compared to CC GT spec. The BMW dealers were the usual not interested types and an Audi guy reckoned the Q3 would be dropped from the new list!
I would have condsidered the top range Q3 auto but it still had to have extras eg cruise control paid for.
Hi Mike,
Did you get the 177ps or was only the 140 availble? I considered this car over and over again over the last four months due to the spec being so ‘huge’ as nothing compared to it. But I never did order one in the end simply due to me not requiring such a big car and felt that it was maybe more suited to a higher age range. Hope i do not come to regret it as it is a great car with the best spec availible on the scheme. Enjoy it. What is the lead time for delivery?
It is not clear to me but does the Nissan X-trail with N-Tec trim have a navigation system and/or panoramic roof?
Martin,
The N-tec X-trail adds a 7 inch touch screen with NissanConnect sat nav and smart phone integration, the glass sunroof is on the Acenta and above.

Is there any manufacturers offering cashback deals this quarter?
Ford operated the only manufacturer wide Cashback scheme and they have not continued with this marketing initiative into this quarter. Dealerships are at liberty to offer cashback to entice customers.
Can someone possibly tell me if I’m correct. Before July 1st I was looking at a Skoda elegance 1.6 tdi , esg. The price was £995. Now the new price is quoted as £1495.
Is this correct, if so a 50% hike seems more of a sting than a hike.would appreciate any replies. Thanks.
Hi,can someone tell me if it’s ok to get your mobility cars wheels spray painted black. I have a vw sirocco and I have curbed the wheels quite bad on both sides due to my bad parking when I first got the car any comments would be gratefully thanks.
I’m pretty certain you’re not allowed to make unauthorised modifications of any kind. If they’re really bad you could perhaps make an insurance claim. No harm in calling Motability to discuss it, they’re not going to snatch the car back over some kerbed alloys.
Hi ,
I live in a rural area and need a 4×4 to get to the main roads in the winter .
I had been looking for a 4×4 that would have better fuel economy than the one I have at the moment (mitsubishi shogun – petrol 22mpg).
I’ve had my eye on the mitsubishi Outlander (new Outlander – diesel 54mpg)
I had been waiting for the new quarters listing as I was intrigued to see if the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) ( new PHEV – combined 150mpg) would be listed at all but unfortunately it is not .
With all it’s Government incentives and the urging for more people to accept the hybrid / EV life style wouldn’t the Motability scheme been ideal for it ?
With the Government incentives making the PHEV the same price as the diesel version of the Outlander to buy you would think it would be in the listings .
I will need a new 4×4 before this winter do you have any tips ?
Or even better does any one know if the PHEV might be coming on the the Motability scheme ?
All the best
Travis
I too thought we may see the outlander PHEV, as with it being the same price as diesel version, would be perfect for the scheme, anyone from which mobility know why its not on? Or if we may see it?
Lee,
If you think back the Leaf was available for a good while before it entered the scheme, same with the Ampera. Following the big advertising campaign the Outlander PHEV is hot at the moment, once the retail interest has settled down and if it is converted into actual sales there is a chance it may get on the Scheme providing the discounts are equivalent to those of the Vauxhall Ampera.
Despite assurances both by email and telephone from Motability that the 2 Series would be added this quarter I am now told by Motability that it will not be added this year , to add insult to injury my next choice 318d sport has been bumped up by £700 , very disappointing 3rd quarter list.
OM
Yes i was also told by motability earlier in the year that the 2 series would go on sometime this quater, gutted as I have the 1 series coupe now and love the fact it’s a medium sized car that the wheelchair fits in the boot without any issues, ie removing wheels or dropping rear seats. I’ve already extended it to five years on low mileage grounds but this sept is hand over day so now I’m going to have to look for a hatchback
I can’t find *any* Vauxhall Zafira’s on the new list!
Surely it’s an oversight?
Yes, it is an oversight, the Meriva is missing too, both are on the motability pages of the Vauxhall website.
I ordered a golf in May for £849 and signed a order form but I’ve noticed the golf is now more expensive do I pay the price I ordered or the new price as I don’t get the car till 7 October
Darren,
You pay the price set at the order point and not the delivery point, ie the lower £849 price.
AFAIK you pay the price you ordered it for. Well done! 🙂
Just took delivery of Golf SE 1.4TSi Estate which is excellent however it took over 18 weeks from order to delivery so don’t hold your breath!!!
Any news on the qashquai or the sportage coming down in price yet ?
Kev,
Both cars prices are unchanged, the Qashqai has seen an increase in the 1.6 diesel powered versions making the new X-Trail actually cheaper.
Ty
Completely atrocious by motability and manufacturers again I mean for e.g Peugeot have added 308 auto but for crying out loud over 2k AP absolutely disgusting
Skoda Supurb 4×4 estate and hatch have been removed!
looks like another disappointing quarter
glad we ordered our bmw 3 series in June price gone up £700 for the 318d sport
BMW have not released the Q3 prices
Unless you are looking somewhere besides their official website
Yea, and the BMW 318D auto has completely been removed, very drastic increases by BMW.
Citroen ds5 has been removed!
Another disappointing list, not many new additions, no new volvos, qashqai tekna still £1999.
Hi which. Any news on alfa and mazda, regarding the giulietta and 3?
Simon, We have spoken to both Mazda and Alfa and drawing information from either is near impossible, we wish we had more positive news but sadly due to the lack of information and the fact neither are listed it is fair to assume that they will not be appearing this quarter.
Hi, is there any difference if the grand c4 picasso is already in stock with one that is going to be manufactured from now?
I mean will the new manufactured from be better than one manufactured months ago?
Diego,
There will be no difference in models that have been already been built to ones that are due to be manufactured, you are in a good position to negotiate on price should the dealer have a car in stock.
I did ask for a discount and or cash back but I was told that they don’t do any with notability.
Shame
Would you also mind having a word with Skoda. The Superb 4×4 estates are still on their web site but not on the Motability site. I reckon Skoda haven’t updated their own site, which is poor, but hopping the Motability site is wrong.
Thanks. HJA
does anyone think the ford mondeo will ever go back down to under £500 deposit? they used to be v low but now have gone to silly prices
Given that the new Mondeo is due on sale in Q4, I think if the current model hasn’t dropped back under £500 AP now it never will. Infact I wonder if the new model is why prices have risen, since it will undoubtedly affect the residuals of the current model causing higher depreciation.
Incidently I had a sit in the new Mondeo last week at the Goodwood Moving Motor Show, very nice.
Any new prices in yet from the manufacturers?
https://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/audi/production/PDF/Fleet/Audi_Motability_Scheme.pdf
Thanks David,
was hoping the Audi A3 S-line would be on the new updated list! unfortunately not 🙁 but hey good news! the audi a1 has gone down a couple hundred in AP
To be honest go for the seat leon fr, 2.0 diesel 150bhp, 234lb ft of torque, full led lights, dab radio and sat nav. All for £850. Bargain!
Simon,
wish I could, but I am under 25 years of age 🙁 (if only the insurance band changed every quarter too!)
If your not too bothered by output of power they do the leon in a 1.2 with tech pack, led lights, dab and sat nav.
Thanks for the link. Not very promising from audi, shame good looking cars, but poor spec and performance from the A3 models.
If audi’s list is anything to go off its going to be another terrible quarter.
To be totally honest, audi are overrated. Yes they do.some.good lookers and performance is impeccable and quality interiors, but the price is ridiculous, so much more cars that are equally good. I’m holding out hopefully mazda will put the fantastic 3 sport nav on.
Audi q3 auto welcome return shame about price though
Is there a link for new july pricelist for ford
Hi the new ford ecosport is due to come on mitability on 1st july, anybody any idea of how much deposit will be thanks
Spoke to our Honda dealer yesterday and he told us to to expect a decrease in price across the civic hatch and tourer range but higher spec cars added on the tourer instead of just S grade especially on Auto ….. Just wish Honda would launch the excellent diesel as an auto tourer
Just noticed the Volvo V70 is not listed on the Motability web search, not sure if this is a new feature but not encouraging.
Just checked, its still on…for now.
Hi i have just ordered A mercedes benz b class sport and i was just asking if any one knows if they are any good thanks
Hi i have the b180 sport diesel and to be honest i am considering an early termination, theres a wooing noise coming from the back when changing gear or letting off throttle at 2000rpm, its had its brakes stripped down already because of excessive dust n burning smell which dealership tried to pass off as dpf filter regenerating (bare in mind the brakes happened in a week) also another person i know has the auto and his went into limp mode because something went wrong with accelerator. Before i forget also when i accelerate it makes a slurping type noise lol can only describe it as drinking last bits of a drink through a straw. not all are probably like this.
Will the mazda cx5 diesel be returning to the scheme
Does anyone have any experience of getting a Handicare puma 40 powered wheelchair into the back of a normal car with a hoist? I know it will go into a Ford Galaxy or a Grand Tourneau with the back seats removed, but I’d got my sights set at a SUV until the wheelchair became necessary. I can change my car any time from now due to the change in circumstances. It also has to be an automatic. I’m trying to avoid a WAV if I can too!
Any news on alfa giulietta and mazda 3 on July price list.
Vauxhall Q3 2014 Motability Prices: https://www.vauxhallfleet.co.uk/pdf/motability/Q3_2014_Motability_Price_Guide.pdf
The insignia/insignia sports tourer prices are still disappointing for sri and above models, looks like vauxhall has added the country tourer as well but only in Fwd which is not great. Hope other manufacturers have better pricing.
Hi guys it may not have been noticed that motability is stopping the hire purchase scheme from july 2014 which has been slipped under the radar.
I am so disappointed that the Audi Q3, is now coming of the list for July.
I was really expecting to see them back on the list for July.
It looks like the new Nissan Juke is showing up on the scheme amongst the older Jukes.
Is there any chance of you showing the War Pensioner advance payments as well as the DLA advance payments?
Even if you just put them in brackets after you quote the DLA payments, it would be really helpful. At the moment it is like war pensioners don’t exist.
Thanks
Paul
Paul,
We will instigate your request from the 1st July changes, our sole focus is to help all those entitled to a mobility car.
https://www.whichmobilitycar.co.uk
Superb. It will be greatly appreciated my the many disabled war pensioners I am sure.
Many thanks
Paul
Is it confirmed that the 2 series will not be available or is that a prediction?
Carlos,
There appears to be confusion over the BMW 2 Series mostly caused by the 2 Series Active Tourer, the front wheel drive small MPV based on the new Mini, this car is released in September and will be joining the Scheme. The 1 series coupe and convertible were very popular cars on the scheme and we would love to see the 2 series coupe added, we do hope our information is incorrect and the 2 series is added as of the 1st July but we are cautiously pessimistic over its arrival.
https://www.whichmobilitycar.co.uk
Following an email enquiry with motablity I received a telephone call from notability stating that the standard 2 series would be added between July and September, and the Active Tourer would be added after its release in September
Cheers for the info David.
“…the standard 2 series would be added…” – I wonder what they mean by “standard”? Pricing of other BMW’s on the scheme would suggest they “could” add more than just the base models. The old 120d coupe was available in M Sport spec so…roll on July! LOL.
When they say “standard” they mean the 2 series coupe as there is two models in the 2 series line up, the coupe and the active tourer
Anyone think the mercedes A class would change in price thanks in advance
Hopefully volvo may add the new v40 d4, 190bhp and 74mpg! Its volvo though so i think we may not see it.
Not sure either, but I love the comment suggesting that an XC might get on the scheme….at £30k I doubt it!
Theres no reason why the xc shouldnt be on the scheme to be honest as you can get a bmw x1 20d xdrive msport which is £30k especially in auto. The whole scheme doesnt make sense these days.
The reason why such expensive cars are added to the scheme is that the manufacturer, in this case BMW, has given a discount to motability so that the cost of the car falls under the 25K marker. These cars are also better able to hold there value so when resale occurs motability will not be making a lose on them even though the cost more to buy(in fact I suspect they might make a small profit to offset the lose made on other cars).
This is all based on my impressions of the people I have spoken to, motability/dealers.
Ice,
The cost of the car is not the major factor, it is the cost of the car against its residual value, you are absolutely correct. Many cars are only worth 40% (or less) of their initial cost after three years but cars such as BMW and Audi hold their value much better, hence the 3 series and Q3 are able to join the Scheme at realistic Advance Payments.
Good point ICE, thank you.
Think we will play everything by ear, as they say, up to the minute we renew.
I have ordered the quashqai and told delivery end of August if the price goes down in July coul I pay the lower price
Fyi all, noticed yesterday that the new Nissan X-Trail has now been added to the list of available cars on the Motability website.
Thank you so much Phil, talk about surprised! Both in the sudden release and the excellent pricing.
https://www.whichmobilitycar.co.uk
Still prefer the old one!
So tomorrow I can order my new car ready for September pick up ..I am liking Nissan and the Juke Tekna but I think I would prefer the QQ Acenta premium but don’t really want to pay that much – Do I risk waiting til July 1st to see if the price drops? Abit nervous as I wouldn’t want the Juke Tekna to go up in price if the QQ does’nt come down – ARGH lol
Jayne, from the pricing of the new Nissan X-trail we can deduce that the Qashqai will be reduced in price, our advice would be to wait until July 1st.
https://www.whichmobilitycar.co.uk
Thank you so much 🙂 – I’m going to wait
Hi JAYNE just ordered my nissan today my dealer said if the a/p goes down we can cancel it then re~order it at new price if it goes down
My wife and I ordered a Ford S-Max two weeks ago, will be annoyed if it drops in price but suspect unlikely as it already seems good value (presumably since the current S-Max is pretty long in the tooth now, but still not due for replacement til next year so too long to wait).
Sadly the S-Max hasn’t benefited from the Ford promotions (no cashback or free extras), but we did manage to negotiate a little off a couple of optional extras we wanted. Had phoned a couple of other Ford dealers but both said there was no negotiation on pricing of any kind.
Its news on the VW CC 210 TSI we are waiting for.
You guys seem to think that it will be removed from the scheme.
Hope you’re wrong!
hi Patrick
the ccgt 210 is already removed from the list as I tried to order one this quarter
Thanks for that info Phil.
Its took months for my wife and myself agree on a car we both like and now its gone!
‘Nev mind, sure something else will come available.
hello Patrick
the 140 ccgt is still on the list same car less power but better mpg
or the bmw 3 series at similar prices
Just had a little look at the new Ford Monedo.Wow, it looks brilliant, a cross between an Aston Martin and an A5!
The only problem is they haven’t yet got a release date. ( I dont think so anyway )
Our present Ford is due to “go back” in November, does any one know how long you can keep your present car for after the offical hand back date?
And just as important, does any one know, or can hazard a guess as to which models and engines will be availiable on the new Monedo.
Thanks
Hey Patrick,
I think you get 6 months extra at the end of renewal date, you could wait but the fact it goes on sale at the end of this year doesn’t mean it will be on the scheme
I saw a German registered “Aston Martin” style Mondeo last weekend on the M25. They do look good from the front, but other than that the styling changes are very subtle which I find disappointing. Bound to be a good car to drive though.
Just noticed the CC is no longer listed on the Motability web search; oh well….
My mistake, got it now
Spoke to my local VW dealer who was fairly positive about the CC staying on. Just need to convince the dog to behave in the back seat rather than the boot!
