New Quarter 3 Prices to be released 1st July
Following the Covid closure, Quarter 2 prices were released on 4th June with orders only open to existing customers, July 1st opens the Scheme to all customers, new and existing. Due to the prolonged and ongoing Shielding responsibilities we were unable to update this site to include Q2 prices, we are hoping to update the site fully through Quarter 3, complete new reviews and offer all the latest news from the Motability Scheme. Thank you for your patience through the most testing of times.
The new Motability prices will be published on Wednesday July 1st 2020. Quarter 3 (Summer) prices run from 1st July through to September 30th 2020. We will post all information as it comes to us on this page. We will update you on all the movements (up and down) on this page. Every movement on the previous price can be tracked with our little arrows. means the price has increased (if you place your mouse on the arrow you can see by how much the price has increased) and if the price has decreased you will see a green arrow or if there is no change in price the arrows are side by side . We will continue to post the War Pension (WPMS) prices alongside the DLA/PIP/AFIP prices. Advance Payments for WPMS are around presently £1085 less than those of DLA/PIP/AFIP. Even with this extra award there are no additional vehicles available to War Pensioners.
Motability Grants
Grants are operated by the charitable arm of Motability and offer means tested assistance for those that need financial help in order to access the merits of a Motability vehicle. Grants are presently closed to new applications as they recover from the Covid Shutdown. They are working through the backlog caused and will open to new applications as soon as possible. If you are in a position where you require a grant in order to access the Scheme and are an existing customer Motability will automatically extend your lease for six months. No need to contact them. Do not worry.
Q3 Price News
The Motor Industry is attempting to recover from dealership and factory closures, we are seeing long delivery times being quoted, up to six months, stock car availability in the UK is also limited. It is imperative that you talk to the Dealer you order the car through and delivery times are potential delays are discussed, our preference is to get all exchanges in writing, email is sufficient. Dealerships are under huge pressure, please be patient regarding test drives as every car will have to be cleaned thoroughly limiting the time vehicles are avaialble for test drives.
Following Covid closures we have seen retail price increases, the idea that offers will abound and Motability prices will tumble is not the case. Quarter 3 will see top end cars removed as they creep over the pricing cap and the good deals will be limited, we will do all we can to pick out the winners and highlight the losers. We are in a transition period where demand outstrips supply as we come out of hibernation and when demand is high, deals are hard to come across.
We are seeing that Motability are finally realising that Electric cars offer lower servicing costs and their resale value is buoyant, this is represented with a more realistic Advance Payment costs, the home charger is usually included with your lease and they apperars to be the only good news we are able to offer at this early stage of pricing.
News From Quarter 2
BMW 3 Series
The long awaited return of the 3 Series BMW, available in SE or Sport trim saloon or touring. There is no diesel only the 318i or 320i petrol paired to an 8 speed steptronic automatic gearbox. Both engines are 2.0 litre in size and both have four cylinders, the 318i produces 156hp and 0-62mph is achievable in 8.4 seconds producing 250nm of torque. The 320i has 184hp and 0-62 is a sprightly 7.1 seconds. Both engines claim economy to be 41.5 miles per gallon. Prices start at £2499 Advance payment – full Q2 prices here.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
The four door Gran Coupe is front-wheel-drive as its built upon the same transverse-engined architecture as the 1 series, same wheelbase, similar nose, virtually the same cabin in the front. At the back there’s a 430 litre saloon boot with the addition of split folding rear seats, but the sloping roofline limits headroom for rear passengers. Trims are Sport or M-Sport and the only engine on the Scheme is the 1.5 litre 3 cylinder petrol 218i offering 140hp and 220 nm of torque which will get you to 62mph in 8.7 seconds. Fuel economy range is a claimed 42.2 – 47.1 mpg, expect mid – late 30’s in the real world. Prices are excellent, particularly when compared to the Mercedes CLA, with the BMW 218i manual starting at £999 Advance Payment. full Q2 prices here.
