The Seat Arona sized Compact SUV from MG (ZS) has a 448 litre boot, 48 litres larger than the Arona, and an 8 inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay link. The 1.5 petrol manual car with 105bhp and 5 gears (49.6 mpg) is eclipsed by the 109bhp 1.0 three cylinder (Vauxhall shared) 6 speed manual / automatic that returns 44.9 mpg.

The interior is reasonably well appointed with soft-touch materials on the upper section of the dashboard, but you can tell where costs have been contained. There’s no reach adjustment for the steering wheel, for instance, and you won’t have to look hard to find brittle, scratchy plastics.

Excite Trim comes with DAB radio, Apple CarPlay, climate control, cruise control heated wing mirrors, front fog lights and 17 inch alloys, while the range-topping Exclusive model adds rear parking sensors, leatherette upholstery and a reversing camera.

MG ZS EV Electric

MGZS Electric car joined 14th Feb 2020

The Chinese built budget Electric compact SUV comes to the Scheme. The 448 litre boot and seating for five (4+1 really) makes it a huge step in the right direction for those looking for a practical Electric car.  The numbers are quite impressive too, 0-62 in mph in 8.7 seconds with a limited top speed of 87 miles per hour. The ZS EV has a new updated for 2022 73 kWh lithium-ion battery (liquid cooled) that equates claimed range of 230 miles WLTP per full charge or a 51kWh battery that offers 198 miles of range.. Charging times are 6 1/2 hours on a typical home charger (7kW) from zero to full. Using a 50kWh public rapid charger 80% battery capacity can be reached in only 45 minutes. Two trim lines Trophy and Trophy Connect, both are well appointed and have a glass roof, the Connect version offering a little more in terms of connectivity.

The 73kWh car avaialble in Quarter 1 has been replaced with the smaller battery 51kWh version, prices are excellent starting at £299 Advance Payment for the Trophy and £599 for the Trophy connect.
