Citroen C4

The new for 2021 Citroen C4 and fully electric ë-C4 is available to order as a Motability vehicle. The C-Segment hatchback offers a 380 litre boot, the same size as the class leading Volkswagen Golf and five litres up on the Ford Focus. The C4 is slightly higher-riding and larger than the C4 Cactus it replaces, the C4 stands 436cm long, 180cm wide and 152.5cm high which is 19cm longer, 9cm wider and 4.5cm taller that the outgoing C4 Cactus. Thankfully carried over from the very comfortable Cactus are the Advanced Comfort seats and Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension, which uses two hydraulic stops to smooth out the ride.

 

There are three trim levels: C-Edition, Sense Plus and Shine Plus.  All cars have LED headlights, ‘V’ signature daytime running lights, fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10-inch high-resolution touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric parking brake, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control. Sense Plus models add heads-up display, sat nav, LED interior lighting, rear parking camera and electrically folding door mirrors. Shine trim adds privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, keyless entry & start, automatic high beam headlights and front and rear parking sensors (ë-C4 ‘Shine’ models feature a heated steering wheel).  Shine Plus trim has black leather and textile upholstery, electric drivers seat, wireless charging pad, extra usb sockets and a premium stereo system with a subwoofer.

 

The C4, alongside the ë-C4, is avaialble with a Petrol or Diesel engine. The six speed manual or eight speed automatic 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol offers 129 brake horse power providing a top speed of 130 miles per hour and a 0-62 mph time of just over 10 seconds, economy is a claimed 44.7 mies per gallon. This engine is used widely across the PSA group and is consider a very capable unit. The four cylinder 1.5 litre diesel avaialble with 108bhp as a manual or as an eight speed automatic with the same 129 brake horse power but the extra torque, 300Nm, helps the drivability and economy, pushing the latter to a claimed 56.8 miles per gallon.

 

Citroen ë-C4

The Fully Electric ë-C4 combines a 100kw electric motor (equivalent to 136 bhp) with a 50kWh battery pack giving a WLTP range of 218 miles. The 0-62 time is 9.3 seconds and the top speed is limited to 93 miles per hour. Supporting CCS rapid charging as standard on all models, an 80% charge will take just 30 minutes on a 100 kW rapid charger. For regular home charging a Type 2 charging cable is included as standard, allowing a regular 7.4kW charger to go from zero to 100% charge in seven hours and 30 minutes. The ë-C4 is available only in Shine Plus trim , Prices start at £2295AP.
