Chevrolet Orlando

The Chevrolet Orlando has a look all it’s own, you can guess it’s American due to its retro SUV look, it looks big and commanding without being aggressive, we like it.

The Orlando is a full seven seater in that you can get three car seats in the middle row, the rearmost two seats offer good levels of headroom and space too, these fold flat when not in use so you can utilise the boot space. The centre row of seats only split 60/40 and not individually which can be a tad annoying.

There are three trim levels, the LS, the LT and the range topper LTZ, the LT has all you need offering 16″ alloys, electric windows all round, electronic climate control, CD player with MP3 connection, remote central locking, rear parking sensors, fully adjustable seat and steering wheel and drivers armrest, if you upgrade to the LTZ you add 17″ alloys, cruise control and automatic wipers and headlights.

The entry level 1.8 litre Petrol we would avoid as the fuel consumption is only 40.3 or 35.7 as an automatic.  The pick of the engines is the two litre diesel 163bhp version, we recommend having the Start/stop version as this increases the fuel consumption considerably to a combined figure of 53.3 miles per gallon.  This engine will propel the big Orlando to 60 miles per hour in 10 seconds, which is fast for such a big unit, you need to add a second to this time for the automatic but it is still very competitive, the top speed of 121 miles per hour underlines the power available. The 163bhp diesel Automatic is excellent value even though the Economy drops to 44.1 miles per gallon. We still recommend the automatic as there is no other seven seater available as an automatic with this much power for such a competitive advance payment.
