Peugeot 208

Peugeot 208 Motability carThe Peugeot 208 is the stylish replacement for the Peugeot 207 and Peugeot have bucked the trend in making every new model larger than its predecessor by making the 208 smaller than the outgoing 207, but only on the outside, there is no loss of space inside the car and the boot has increased by 15 litres to 285, clever people car designers. The Peugeot 208 comes up against tough opposition in the Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, Honda Jazz, Kia Rio and VW Polo but looks the freshest of the bunch and has an ace up its sleeve in a new three cylinder 1.2 litre petrol engine. A mid life facelift has further enhanced the look of the 208 with a sharper front bumper, wider grille and newly-designed headlamps, as well as new colours, 3D ‘claw’ LED taillights and refreshed alloy wheel designs.

Peugeot Group have invested heavily, £600 million, in the development of the 3 cylinder petrol engine to be manufactured in Trémery, France. Available as a one litre or our pick a 1.2 litre producing either 82 or 110 brake horse power and able to propel the 208 to 62 miles per hour in 12.2 seconds but the 110bhp takes only 9.6 seconds, both engines offer a claimed 62.8 miles per gallon. We are delighted that small petrol engines are making a fightback and not being pushed into extinction by the march of the all conquering diesel, having said that the 1.6 blue diesel is a cracking unit with 100 or 120bhp the economy moves up into the 80 or even 90mpg category. The new EAT6 Automatic gearbox paired to the 1.2 petrol in 110 guise is superior to the ETG5 of the smaller car, the ETG is a Semi automatic with a single clutch, if you are after an Auto you simply must go with the superior EAT system starting at Price reduced from previous quarter price£699 Advance Payment.
